Positions
The laboratory welcomes undergraduates, graduate students, postdoctoral
fellows, and other research professionals. Specific positions are advertised
on this page as they become available, but please also see the information
below:
Postdoctoral fellows: A prospective postdoctoral fellow
who has recently completed or is about to complete his or her Ph.D. should
send an introductory e-mail directly to Dr. Kumar with the names of 3
faculty references and an attached CV. All postdoctoral fellows are strongly
encouraged to explore and pursue external fellowship support.
Prospective UCB graduate students: Students should apply
for graduate study at Berkeley through the UC
Berkeley-UCSF PhD program in Bioengineering, the UC Berkeley Graduate Program in Biophysics or through another Ph.D.
program with which Dr. Kumar is affiliated. The laboratory does not directly
admit or sponsor Ph.D. students outside of this application process.
Current UCB graduate students: Students who would like
to complete a rotation in the laboratory should e-mail Dr. Kumar directly.
Undergraduates: Students interested in pursuing undergraduate
research with Dr. Kumar should e-mail him directly. Undergraduates are
strongly encouraged to seek external support through the Berkeley Summer
Bioengineering Research Program or another of the many undergraduate
research programs at Berkeley.
Other: Positions for technicians and senior Ph.D.-level
researchers are specifically advertised as needed. However, candidates
are welcome to e-mail Dr. Kumar a CV to keep on file as positions become
available.
