Erin Akins
PhD Student - Bioengineering

Erin is investigating the role of the tumor microenvironment in driving glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) invasion. Specifically, she is interested in elucidating the role of tumor-associated macrophages and ECM-proteins that enable a transition from the tumor core towards perivascular invasion. Erin is developing tissue engineering-inspired discovery and screening platforms that incorporate distinct microenvironments to identify novel druggable targets to disrupt GBM cell invasiveness.
